FCKEditor 2010 Bug

If you update to the latest version of the Firefox browser, you may find the WYSIWYG editor in your store will disappear. This is due to a bug in the FCKEditor that is used for this component, it has a browser compatibility check that only goes up to the year 2009! Here's information on how to correct this if you are effected. You'll find the editor in the customtags/fckeditor directory of your store.

Phillip Senn's Gravatar I have cfwebstorefb6_44.zip with the missing fckeditor, so I need the minor update for my site to work.
Thanks!

Michael Baraz's Gravatar I just noticed that CF8 and later have on the CFTEXTAREA tag an attribute richtext="yes" that uses a built-in FCKEditor which Adobe supports. Easier/better than trying to deal with all the necessary overhead of 3rd party products. I don't know if Railo or BlueDragon have this or not which would presumably be a factor.

Mary Jo's Gravatar You can certainly modify the tags to use that editor instead if you really want, but there's a number of reasons that it would not be used in the software since it just doesn't allow the same amount of customization that I am doing on the FCKEditor. It's a lot easier for me to tweak a version of an included editor, than one that is part of the CF core. It's the same reason that I don't use any of the "cfform" functionality.
